Hi everyone (Catoblepa)

Sorry but my french is way too rusty (I can read it fine, but writing/speaking is a different thing), I hope you'll forgive me if I write in english

Hi everyone! I'm Catoblepa, I'm a guy from Italy and I've found this forum thanks to Johnny16bit. I've helped Johnny and Ozzy with their wonderfully insane project, the Eye of Typhoon Tsunami Edition, creating completely new art for the cover and the manual (and watercolours for the extra goodies, too). I've also done some pixel art for a couple of missing assets in the game, such as Mahesvara's defeated portrait and the unlockable character portrait.

I'm not a professional artist, just an amateur who likes ink and watercolours, and my interest in pixel art dates back to Deluxe Paint IV on the Amiga 500. I'm an old-school manga/anime fanatic and I've spent many years trying to capture an authentic japanese feeling, studying Rumiko Takahashi and many other artists.  

Talking about games, I collect pinball machines, Jamma boards and NeoGeo MVS carts.

Ozzy and Johnny did a fantastic job, that's for sure. Hope you'll enjoy the artwork too, when the "photo embargo" is officially lifted! Anyway, I'm also here as a dedicated Neo collector (I have 102 unique MVS games, plus a lot of doubles for selling/trading so I can try gettin' closer to a full set) and this looks like the right place

Thank you Ganesh, it's a pleasure I was quite nervous about the reaction, since this is my first cover illustration ever (so it's like an exam, or an official debut)... but the early comments, yours included, are super encouraging. I've tried to make the postcards very distinctive, making sure no background used the same colours, and Johnny found an excellent printing service - they're probably my personal favourite too, so glad you liked them!

Thanks davlar, I'm very happy that you liked my work so much, even if I'm just an amateur! You got it, it's all hand drawn: digital coloring saves a lot of time when you learn it (I haven't), but I think real drawings and paintings still give a warmer, more "alive" feeling. And yes, I've drawn and painted that Sauri too 🤭 (you probably have noticed I've used pixel art as reference for some goodies, but that Sauri poster, like the AES insert, is 100% original... wish I could say more, but I'll stay quiet until people can post photos).
I'll be happy to post more art and stuff from my collection in the future, thanks again davlar
